📚 Our History

Rick's Pro Ski Shop has been in operation in The Blue Mountains for over 50 years.

Zotter's Ski Shop (1963 - Late 90s)

Our pro shop's history begins with Karl Zotter, an Austrian native and passionate skier who immigrated to Canada in 1953.

He worked part-time for Jozo Wieder until opening his own shop—Zotter's Ski Shop—in 1963. Over time, Zotter's became well-known for its excellent customer service and skilled ski tuning.

Rick's Pro Ski Shop (2001 - 2012)

After running a successful business for 35 years, Mr. Zotter felt it was time to retire. Rick Sims, a seasoned ski mechanic from the Blue Mountains, re-opened the shop in 2001. He continued Zotter's tradition of tuning everything by hand.

Rick's Pro Ski Shop (2012 - Present)

One day in 2008, a 13-year old by the name of Brody Nickels came to Rick's shop to get his ski boots fitted. His honest, personable, and kind nature impressed Rick so much, he hired Brody on the spot.

3 years later, Brody was offered to run the shop, becoming the youngest business owner in Collingwood at the age of 17. He kept the name Rick's to honour his late mentor and preserve the history of the shop.

Zotter's Legacy

Brody has continued on the tradition of hand tuning all equipment—the very same tradition that Karl Zotter used in his shop over half a century ago.
